Jay Farrar of Bechtel
Jay Farrar is currently the principal vice president, government affairs and manager for Bechtel‘s D.C.-based operations.
He works with federal, state, local and international governments and build Bechtel’s strategy to work with these customers. He also represents Bechtel in all policy matters and in the D.C. market with additional corporate officials.
Farrar was previously the senior government affairs representative for CH2M HILL and was involved in strategy at the local, state and federal level.
Prior to working with CH2M HILL, Farrar was a part of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He was senior vice president of external relations for the CSIS for five years.
Farrar also acted as deputy assistant secretary for legislative affairs at the Defense Department, director of legislative affairs for the National Security Council at the White House and spent time as the legislative assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Farrar has been recognized by the Defense Department for exceptional public service.
Additionally, Farrar served for 23 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service, he specialized in public affairs and political/military affairs. He is a current member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Farrar previously taught at the University of California at Los Angeles.
