Space Development Agency (SDA)

Col. Alexander Rasmussen is the Chief Capability Officer at the Space Development Agency (SDA). The Capability Office supports the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) programs from requirement identification to launch and operations. This office includes the Warfighter Integration Cell, Tracking, Transport, Custody, Navigation, Battle Management, Red, and Ground & Launch cells. Collectively, they execute capability road maps and support tranche execution. Recognized as the Department of Defense's constructive disruptor for space acquisition, SDA will quickly deliver needed space-based capabilities to the joint warfighter to support terrestrial missions through development, fielding, and operation of the PWSA.

Col. Rasmussen has served in a variety of Intelligence, Armor, and Acquisitions assignments. As an Armor Officer, he has deployed to Kuwait, Baghdad, and Mosul, Iraq, and served in South Korea. In Army Acquisitions, he has served on combat vehicle, international, space, and positioning, navigation, and timing programs.

Col. Rasmussen has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Armor Captains Career Course, Scout Leaders Course, and the Defense Acquisition University’s Program Manager’s Course.

Col. Rasmussen’s awards include Bronze Star Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, Combat Action Badge, Space Badge, Parachutist Badge, and others.
