Dennis Wilder is an assistant professor of the practice in Asian studies and a senior fellow for the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues at Georgetown University. He brings decades of high-level U.S. government experience relevant to the strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific. He served as the CIA’s deputy assistant director for East Asia and the Pacific and, for six years, as a senior editor of the President’s Daily Brief. At the White House, he was the National Security Council's special assistant to the president and senior director for East Asian affairs (2005-2009) and was previously the NSC's director for China (2004-2005). Dennis' career is founded on early diplomatic experience as a political officer in the U.S. Consulate-General in Hong Kong. He holds an M.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University and, as an undergraduate, spent a year in the Yale-in-China program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
