Iain D.M. Ferguson is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Air Force, Space and Intelligence (AFSI) Business Group within Science Application International Corporation (SAIC). Mr. Ferguson is responsible for driving technical innovation and execution excellence by integrating and sharing investments, technologies and solutions across all customers, contracts and business opportunities in the portfolio. Prior to joining SAIC in 2022 he served 21 years on active duty retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2018.


Mr. Ferguson graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1997 and began his career as a C-130 tactical airlift pilot with combat operations in Bosnia, Kosovo and Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. He also served as an Evaluator/Instructor Pilot at the C-130 formal training schoolhouse in Little Rock, AR.



In 2008, Mr. Ferguson transitioned to the role of Developmental Test Pilot after graduating from the Air Force Institute of Technology with a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and from the Air Force Test Pilot School with a Master’s degree in Flight Test Engineering. He served in various roles as test pilot, Chief of Test & Range Safety, Squadron Commander and Deputy Group Commander. He also served in various advanced program director roles at the MAJCOM and Wing levels.


After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Ferguson worked as an Electronic Warfare Engineer, Systems Engineer, Project Manager and Integration Lead for the MITRE Corporation. During his time at MITRE he supported various government programs with digital transformation, modeling and simulation and modernization including Autonomy, Weapons, F-35, Advanced Battle Management Systems (ABMS) and electronic warfare programs.



Mr. Ferguson began at SAIC in 2022 as the Modeling and Simulation Integration Lead under the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Support (AFMS 2.0) Contract. In this role he was responsible for aligning technical efforts in support of modeling and simulation for operational training across a worldwide workforce before transitioning to his current position as CTO for the AFSI business group.


Mr. Ferguson resides in Niceville, Florida with his wife Annie (Herbert) Ferguson and is the father of four adult children.
