Colonel Jason E. West is the Commander for System Delta 85. In this capacity, he leads a 750-member team executing a $12B budget and directing all Space Force programs to deliver sensors, digital systems, and software for Battlespace Awareness, Operational C2, Battle Management and Space Intelligence capabilities to achieve decision dominance in the space domain. Colonel West graduated in 1999 from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He was commissioned into the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps and began his career with an operational experience tour conducting satellite command and control. For the subsequent 19 years, Colonel West specialized in on-orbit electro-optical systems conducting intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, missile defense, and space control missions. His assignments include master’s degrees in Imaging Science and Strategic Intelligence, satellite acquisition tours at the National Reconnaissance Office and Space and Missile System Center, and staff assignments in the offices of the Secretary of the Air Force and Secretary of Defense. He served as a Materiel Leader at the National Reconnaissance Office and served twice as a Senior Materiel Leader, serving the Space Systems Command Program Executive Officers for Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power as well as Battle Management, Command, Control & Communications Colonel West transferred to the US Space Force in June 2021.
