Mike Trumpfheller is the Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives to Chief of Space Operations, Headquarters United States Space Force, the Pentagon. Mr. Trumpfheller advises the CSO on critical policy issues and strategic initiatives affecting the United States Space Force.

Mr. Trumpfheller joined the U.S. Air Force in 1990 and retired from the service in 2016 as a colonel. He graduated from San Diego State University and Air Force ROTC. During multiple operational flying assignments, he deployed in support of Operations Allied Force, Northern Watch, and Enduring Freedom. Mr. Trumpfheller has held four Pentagon staff positions including Checkmate Division, Division Chief in Joint Staff, J5, and Air Force Joint Service Planner, and Strategy Division Chief. He commanded the 33rd Rescue Squadron, Japan and the 651st Air Expeditionary Group at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. After retiring from active duty, he served in the Department of the Air Force Senior Executive Service Corps from 2016-2020 leading planning and programming, requirements, and force design efforts for air and space capabilities.
