Leslie Nettles

Acting Deputy CISO

Leslie Nettles currently serves as the Acting Deputy Chief Information Security Officer
for the Information Security and Privacy Group (ISPG), where Leslie provides strategic
leadership in strengthening CMS’s security and privacy posture. In addition to this role,
Leslie is the Senior Official for Privacy and the Division Director for the Division of
Security and Privacy Policy and Oversight within the Office of Information Technology.
With a Master of Science in Digital Forensics and Cyber Investigation and a Master of
Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus, Leslie brings
deep expertise spanning Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC); Data Privacy; and
Breach Response. Leslie’s career includes extensive experience across both defense
and civilian government sectors, shaping a wellrounded perspective on complex
security and privacy challenges.
Throughout Leslie’s tenure at CMS, Leslie has been recognized for exceptional
leadership, strong subjectmatter acumen, and a steadfast commitment to protecting
CMS systems, data, and the individuals they serve. In the Acting Deputy CISO role,
Leslie continues to guide ISPG’s strategic initiatives during a pivotal period of
organizational advancement.
