CAPT. (Ret.) Rich Sussman

Rich Sussman is a seasoned Navy and industry leader with more than 30 years of
experience spanning ship maintenance, shipbuilding, modernization, and shipyard
operations. He currently serves as Surface, Aviation and Undersea Business
Development Director for SAIC’s Army Navy Business Group, supporting customers
across critical Navy mission areas. 
A retired U.S. Navy Reserve Engineering Duty Officer, Sussman has held leadership
roles across government, industry, and the shipyard enterprise. Prior to joining SAIC in
2023, he led the Navy’s highest-priority Naval Sustainment System–Shipyards program,
advancing production, planning, and execution improvements across the Navy’s four
public shipyards. 
His industry career includes senior roles with CACI, NASSCO Norfolk, and Bechtel,
where he led and supported complex surface ship, submarine, and aircraft carrier
maintenance availabilities, modernization efforts, dry-dock operations, and large-scale
technical programs. As Director of Planning and Engineering at NASSCO Norfolk, he
led initiatives to expand maintenance capacity and improve project execution. 
Sussman is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where he earned a
Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Systems Engineering. He also holds master’s
degrees in Electric Power Engineering and Business Administration and is a certified
Project Management Professional (PMP).
