Command Chief Warrant Officers (CCWO) are the senior-most warrant officers on the commander’s personal staff, responsible for managing all warrant-officer matters and serving as master-level technical and tactical advisors on doctrine, tactics, and equipment. They foster
professionalism, technical excellence, and mentorship across the warrant-officer cohort and the wider command, acting as the primary liaison between the command group and warrant officers at both unit and Army-wide levels
A native of Tucson, Arizona, he entered active duty in May of 1996 as a 19K (Armored Crewman) with a transition to 25B (Information Systems Specialist) in 2000. While deployed to Iraq in 2007, he was selected as Warrant Officer with the specialty of 255A (Data Operations Technician). He graduated Signal Warrant Officer Basic Course in 2008 and proceeded to Fort Cavazos to begin his Warrant
Officer career.
CW5 Petermann’s military education include various Enlisted course including the Army Recruiting Course and Basic Instructor Training. As a Warrant Officer, his training includes Airborne School, Warrant Officer Candidate Course, Warrant Officer Basic, Advanced and Intermediate Level Education along with the 1st Special Forces Command Senior Warrant Officer Seminar Course.
His duty assignments include Fort Cavazos, Texas; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Fort Bragg, North Carolina and MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. He has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom three times and Operation Enduring Freedom twice.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (3OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (1OLC), Meritorious Volunteer Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (4 campaigns), Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 4, Korean Defense Service Medal, Drivers Badge and Parachutist Badge.
CW5 Petermann maintains an associate degree from University of Maryland, Global Campus, he is currently pursuing completion of an advanced degree and credentialling program with a focus in the
information technology domain. CW5 Petermann’s technical certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Practitioner (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administration/Engineer (MCSA/E) and Cisco Certified Network Administration (CCNA).
CW5 Petermann has three adult children, Karina, Bryce and his son Shawn who is currently serving in
the Army. His long-time girlfriend, Emily Knight has two children, Devon and Aden.
