Taras Kachka was born on July 28, 1979, in the village of Dymytrove, Kirovohrad Oblast, Ukraine. He is a lawyer specializing in international law with a focus on harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with the EU acquis. Since July 17, 2025, he has been serving as a Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. On July 30, 2025 he was appointed by the Government as a Trade Representative of Ukraine as well. One of the main tasks of the Trade Representative is to ensure the promotion of Ukraine’s economic interests in the EU and world markets. Taras Kachka was one of the key members of Ukraine’s negotiating team for the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. Education He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from the International Scientific and Technical University (Kyiv) and a Master's degree in Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. From 2004 to 2005, he studied Public Administration at the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw, Poland. Career and Positions From 2001 to 2004, he worked as a Senior Specialist at the Center for European and Comparative Law at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. From 2005 to 2009, he held the position of Deputy Director and Head of the State Department for Legislative Harmonization at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, and from 2009 to 2011, served as the First Deputy Head of the Department. In 2011, Taras Kachka became Head of the Department of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. Business and Civil Society From January 2014 to April 2015, Taras Kachka served as Deputy President for Strategic Development and Acting President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. Between 2016 and 2017, he was Deputy Executive Director of the International Renaissance Foundation in Ukraine. Government Service On September 6, 2019, Taras Kachka was appointed Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and Trade Representative of Ukraine. On June 8, 2020, he was elected as a Vice Chair of the International Grains Council (IGC) for the 2020/2021 marketing year, and in July 2021, he was appointed as a Chair of the IGC for the 2021/2022 term. Since July 17, 2025, he has been serving as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine in the government of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. Personal Life Married, father of three children. Other Contributions Taras Kachka is the author of the monograph "Combating Money Laundering: A Comprehensive Comparative Legal Analysis of the Compliance of Ukrainian Legislation with the EU Acquis in the Area of Preventing and Combating the Legalization of Criminal Proceeds". He also edited and translated the book "Constitutional Acts of the European Union", published by Justinian Publishing House (Kyiv, 2008, 512 pages).
