Van Gurley

President & Chief Executive Officer

Metron Inc.

Van Gurley is the President and CEO of Metron, Inc., a technology firm developing
innovative solutions to address national security's most complex challenges. Founded in
1984 with roots in applied mathematics and statistics, Metron turns rigorous first-
principles scientific problem solving into operational capability, from early concept
through rapidly deployed programs.

Before becoming CEO, Van served as COO, Senior VP, and Senior Manager leading
development of solutions in predictive analytics, data fusion, and automated mission
planning for the FAA, U.S. Navy, and DARPA. These included novel technical
approaches to problems initially thought to be intractable. He successfully ushered
several of these projects from initial R&D to full operations as programs of record.
Before joining Metron, Van completed a 26-year career in the United States Navy rising
to the rank of Captain while serving as a submarine warfare officer and naval
oceanographer.

He holds degrees in physics, engineering, and management from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the University of
Florida, and was the Navy’s 2003 Federal Executive Fellow at MIT’s Security Studies
Program.
