Who Is Tim Kosiba?
Tim Kosiba is one of the nation’s leading national security experts with specific expertise in foreign signals intelligence and cybersecurity missions. He has been instrumental in the successful implementation of the NSA’s cybersecurity policy. Kosiba has frequently represented both the NSA and U.S. Cyber Command at the White House and other government-sponsored deliberations on cyber activities.
Kosiba’s career at the NSA began as the technical director for the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare, a precursor group to U.S. Cyber Command. He has also served as the technical director for the Requirements and Targeting Office in the Tailored Access Operations organization, a highly-classified unit responsible for offensive cyber operations.
He was selected for the Defense Intelligence Senior Level Service position and was posted as chief of the Special U.S. Liaison Office Canberra. Upon returning from Australia, Kosiba became deputy director of the NSA/Central Security Service Commercial Solutions Center and was later appointed chief of computer network operations. Following three years in this role, he was assigned as the deputy commander of NSA Georgia, one of the largest of the NSA field locations.
Kosiba also spent seven years as a master forensic examiner on the FBI’s Computer Analysis Response Team, performing digital forensics work tied to post-9/11 counterterrorism investigations.
